Bill him. Condolences to all wwas a good buddy, and a wonderful conversationalist. The man could make me laugh and make me think. Only knew him a few short years in Bastrop/Smithville. He was a good friend to talk to about certain problems I had, and offered help! God Bless Him,

It is a sad day and I mourn the passing of my friend. Bill and I met in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1979 when I sutured up his left wrist. . We were roommate, brothers from different mothers, confidantes, and for a while blew through life with our hair on fire. He was a prolific writer, voracious reader, talented artist and a damn fine mandolin picker. We shared the love of music, poetry, good books, good chili and fine whiskey. I admired his passion for teaching and he admonished me for being a half assed medicine man. The love we shared for each other was unequaled. We were each others best friend and worst enemy. Together we had no restraint, no limits and no fear. A combination that would lead to the worst in both of us and at times the very best. Cancer and survival caused a schism in us and so I have not seen Bill in eight years. Mostly my decision. I am saddened at his passing but take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain or suffering. I am sure the ground that holds his ashes will bear something prickly and annoying to most, yet beautiful and full of amazement and wonder to those of us who called him friend. You will always be missed.
