Chief Master Sergeant Otis Jackson U.S. Air Force, Retired, 82, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 in Austin, Texas.

 

Otis was born June 23, 1935 to Joe Henry, Sr. and Edna (Deham) Jackson.  He was the second (2) of seven (7) children born to this union.

 

He grew up in Monroe, LA and graduated from Carroll High School in 1955. After graduation, he joined the military.  Otis served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force for 29 years until her retired in 1985 as an E-9, Chief Master Sergeant.

 

On February 7, 1963 Otis married Annie Ruth Moore and they had two (2) children.  They were happily married for 55 years.  He was her “Big Jack” and she was his “Ms. Ann.”

 

Otis was a member of Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon.  Post retirement, he also worked as a security guard for MD Anderson Cancer Center.  Otis volunteered at the Bastrop Food Pantry and enjoyed spending time playing cards at the senior center.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Henry, Sr. and Edna Jackson; his sister Edna Francis; brother Joe, Jr., Melvin, and Steve; and sister-in-law Willie Mae Tyler.

 

Otis is survived by his wife Annie; his daughter Mary Etta of Jonesboro, GA; his son Anthony (Erica) of San Antonio, TX; his four  (4) grandchildren Jacquelyn, Rashad, Anthony, and Solomon; his four great-grandchildren Tarrence, Dasia, Riku, and Liyah; his sisters Billie Butler and Mary Fortson of Arlington, TX; and his sister-in-laws Doris Bryant of Houston, TX, Irene Jackson of Shreveport, LA, and Davia Jackson of Oakland, CA.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
