Eva Owens

Eva was born in La Pryor Texas to the late Eulalio F. Garcia and Jesusa A. Garcia. Her grandparents Felis Garcia and Victoria Del Toro Garcia were prominent in her upbringing.

She lived in San Antonio and Houston, before moving to Smithville in June 1983. She visited Smithville in 1967 and vowed to live in Smithville. She was very determined to set her roots and did. She became self-employed and made a name for herself by providing health care and home care to her community. She established herself in the small quaint town and was proud of her accomplishment.

Marie liked to crochet, sew and had her hands in the dirt by growing flowers and indoor plants. Most of all she loved taking pictures. She is the reason we are all picture fanatics.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie E. Owens, her parents, Eulalio F. Garcia, Jesusa A. Garcia and Paula H. Garcia, and her grandmother Anita Aguirre. Following her siblings Adam Garcia, Eliseo Garcia, Lupe Montellano and Emma Rodrigues. Lastly her two step sons James Smith and Donnie Owens and one great grand daughter Rose.

She leaves to honor her memory her children, Debbie Owens, Willie Ed Owens Jr, Rene Lee Owens, Victoria Ann Owens, Larry Hollis, Lillie B. Owens, and Willie Edward Owens, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is survived by her siblings Jesusa Lamascus, Elida Menchaca, Rosa Rodriguez, John Montellano, Anita Villalobos, Jesse Aguirre, and Edwardo Garcia.
