Cora’s Life Reflections

Cora Bernice (Brown) Alexander was born June 29, 1936 to the late Ernest Brown and Lula Nell Gonzales Brown in Cedar Creek Texas (Bastrop County). Her parents, two children and sisters: Minnie Pearl Johnson and Ola Mae Monroe proceeded her in death.

Cora attended Emile High School in Bastrop County Texas.  She was a cheerleader.

On April 26, 1955, Cora married the love of her life Frank Samuel Alexander and they were blessed with nine children: James Earl, Larry, Robert, Frank S. Jr. (deceased), Terry, Tommy, Cynthia, Sandra (deceased) and Debbie.

Cora accepted Christ at a young age and united with the Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church where she remained a member until her home going. She was very active in her church, serving as Deaconess, Mother of the Church, Choir member and Mission Worker.

Cora's life journey was about helping others. After high school she began her professional career at St. Edward's University.  To be closer to her young children, she began working as a nurse's aide for Bastrop Nursing and Rehabilitation.  She worked there for ten years.  When her children grew older, she went to work for the City of Austin and retired after twenty years of dedicated service. With retirement, she began to wear many hats. She was dedicated to the youth of her community.  She showed them love and compassion, cooked for all who were hungry and took the youth in the community to vacation Bible school and choir practice.  She was a grandmother to many other than her family.

Cora was a devoted mother who loved the Lord. She had unconditional love for her family and instilled in the importance of humility, honesty, devoted love and respect for family and others and most importantly a strong relationship with God.

Cora leaves to cherish her memories: her Husband of 62 years. Sons; James Earl (Savannah) Thorne, Larry (Gay) Alexander, Robert Lewis (Tobitha) Alexander, Charles Terry Alexander, Tommy Wayne (Alegra) Alexander. Daughters; Cynthia Alexander, Debbie (Darnell) Lucas.

Missing Cora will be her 19 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grand Children. Sisters: Annie Earl Baker of Austin TX. and Barbara Alexander of Lockhart TX., Sister in Laws: Mary Jo McDonald and Myrtle Ruth Alexander of Cedar Creek TX., Deloris Warren of Fort Worth TX and Margaret Alexander of Elgin TX. Cora will remain in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
