Dixie Lee (Cobbs) Chandler

Journey of Life

Dixie Lee Chandler was born to Albert Cobbs and Mariah Clark on January 29, 1920 in Crafts Prairie, Texas, were she grew up and graduated High School. In 1949 Dixie Lee married D.L. Chandler and moved to Granger, Texas. They lived for many years and to this union seven children were born. In 1962 the family moved to Smithville, Texas where as a Domestic Engineer she not only cared for her home and children but became “Mother” to many of the children in the community. 
 Mother was outgoing, caring and loved making others laugh. She had a heart for family and enjoyed spending time with them at family functions and during the holidays. Mother became a member of Crafts Prairie Primitive Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas. She accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and as a faithful member of the church she sang in choir and served as Record Keeper. Before her health began to decline she became a devoted member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Smithville, Texas. 
Mother was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings. Her husband D.L. Chandler, two great, great grandsons: Dashon Scaife and T’Eddrick Huff and a grandson MarShay Oliver and a grand-daughter LaShonji Patterson. 
Mother leaves to celebrate her life, her seven children: Marie Blakley of California, Mrytle Johnson of Smithville, Texas, Darlene Bradford of Lubbock, Texas, Doneal Chandler, Darvinal Chandler and Dickie Chandler of Dallas, Texas and Zavier Chandler McIntyre of Smithville, Texas. Her thirty-five Grand Children, ninety-nine Great Grand Children, sixty Great, Great Grand Children, and three Great, Great, Great Grand Children. And a host of family and friends that she loved dearly.
