On December 17, 2018 Jewel( Peterson)McMillan passed away in her home in Washington DC. She was the last remaining child of General and Susie Peterson. Jewell moved from Smithville TX. to Washington D.C. where she married Mac McMillan, She had two sons Floyd Roy Turner (deceased) and Stanley McMillan. She leaves behind her grandchildren Ayana Turner, Roslyn Turner and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends. Jewel was known for her love of music, she was the dedicated music director at New Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Forestville, Maryland and many other churches in the Washington and Maryland area. She worked for the federal government in the census bureau until she retired. Funeral service will be held at, Antioch Baptist Church in Hills Prarie, TX on Saturday January 12, 2019 at 11 a.m.

The sun rose for a baby girl name Jewell, she was born to the Late General and Susie Peterson of Upton, Texas. Jewell was the last child of a total of 11 children, 3 boys and 8 girls. She was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and her Son, Floyd Roy Turner.
Jewell moved from Smithville, Texas to Washington DC, where she met and married the love of her life Mr. Mac McMillian. Stanley McMillian was born.
