L.C. Martin was born July 8, 1930 to Ben L and Hallie Roberta Robinson-Martin in Hills Prairie, Texas. He was the youngest of six children: Jewel Franklin, Ruby Lee Dixon, Maureen Crawford, Eula Mae Franklin and Walter Martin. All of his siblings preceded him in death along with his wife, Lucille Jones-Martin; son, Sam Jones; son, Larry Jones and granddaughter, Leah Danielle Martin.
He attended and graduated from Bastrop Public School. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for several years. He joined Lone Star Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon until his passing.
He married Lucille Jones in 1959 and from this union came seven sons: Sam Jones and Henry Jones of Bastrop, Larry Jones, L C Martin, Jr. (Sue) of Austin, Deneal Martin (Ute) of Germany, William Martin (Marilyn) of Austin, and Clifton Martin (Crystal) of Bastrop; and one daughter, Mary Sharp (Darrell) of Houston.
L.C. was a god-fearing Christian, loving husband and caring father. He loved his family and friends. When he was a little boy his sister, Maureen called him “Beanie Boy”, because he loved to eat beans, As he got older, everyone knew him as “Bean”.
He leaves to cherish his memories, six of his eight children. Twelve grandchildren: Henry “Anthony” Jones, Katherine Jones, LaKendra Martin, Richard Ihegborow, Darrell “Deon” Sharp, Tyra Sharp, Patrick Jackson, Duston Martin, Kia Martin, Tyshay Jarmon and Zadria Lawrence. Nine great grandchildren: Shanelle Jones, Arianna Jones, Zaylen Martin, Montray Martin, Ke’Shawn Jarmon, Dre’Sean Manning, Trae’Shun Manning, Jordan Ihegborow, Ka’Meria Ihegborow and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
