Melissa Gay Thompson Harrod was born July 10, 1959 in Bastrop, Texas to the union of Plummer and Willie Mae Thompson.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and her strong faith in God was evident.
She had a great love for family and a special passion for drawing and animals. Melissa was a quiet, strong spirit, who was always willing to listen and provide support whenever it was needed.
On June 19, 1981, she was united in holy matrimony to Tony Lee Harrod who preceded her in death.
In November 1996, Melissa gave birth to the light of her life, her son, David Strange.
Melissa left this life to return to the open arms of her Creator on May 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Plummer and Willie Mae Thompson; two sisters, Melanie Kay Thompson White (identical twin) and Willie Pearl Thompson Brown and a nephew, Steven Wade Taylor. To rejoice her homegoing, Melissa leaves one son, David Strange of Bastrop, TX; two sisters, Joyce Sibley of Austin, TX and Plonnie Taylor (Wade) of Elgin, TX; one brother, Plummer Thompson, Jr., of Bastrop, TX; one aunt, Goldie Taylor of Austin, TX; one uncle, Harold Aldridge of Austin, TX; six nephews, one niece, one great niece, one great nephew, and a host of many relatives and friends.
