Robert Emerson McGregor

Robert “Emerson”, the 6th sibling, was born January 5th, 1943 to parents Darius “Doris” Lee McGregor and Eva Lee Harris McGregor in the center Union Community, Smithville, Texas.  Robert was baptized July 1958, by the late Rev. R. L. Elden and united with the Center Union Baptist Church.  He attended Randolph High School, La Grange, Texas.  The family relocated to Smithville, Texas and he attended Mary A. Brown High School graduating in 1962.  Robert united with Mr. Pilgrim Baptist Church and served faithfully under all ministers.  He taught an adult Sunday School Class and was the superintendent simultaneously approximately 20 years until his health began to decline.  Robert was ordained as a deacon in 1970.

When Robert retired, he was employed at the comet cleaners and had years of experience.  He was a trainee and trained new employees.  Because of Emerson’s tutelage, some of these employees became owners of dry cleaners. 

Robert married Josephine Montgomery and was blessed with one child, Sara Louise.  He was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Samuel Lee, Charles Edward and Leroy.  He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Josephine, daughter, Sara Louise, sisters, Aurelia McGregor, Missouri City, 24, and Vivian L. Goodman (Roland), Wichita, KS., and other relatives and friends.
