Bettye Marshall Obituary

Bettye Joyce Marshall was born July 20, 1941, in Eldorado, Texas the third of three children to Warner Collins & Myrtie McGarty- Moten.

Bettye attended elementary school in Seguin ISD then completed her remaining school years in Austin ISD. Bettye graduated from Anderson High aka “OLD ANDERSON” Class of 1958.

Bettye worked in the healthcare industry for over 35 years (Center for the Blind, Girling, etc.…) then moved into the private sector to continue providing care to elderly individuals. Bettye was married to Clarence Wylie and to that union a son was born, Craig Allen Wylie. Bettye then married James “Red” Marshall, and both proceed her in death.

Bettye lived in several Texas cities but called Smithville home and resided there until GOD called her home. She also loved to play bingo, cards and dominoes with family and friends, but she loved fishing most of all. Bettye and brother Jodie had no problem loading up the car and heading to the water to do some fishing. Everyone who knew and loved Bettye knew she was a keep it real, cook you a meal, speaks her mind, give you the shirt off her back kind of woman.

Preceding Bettye in death is her father Warner Collins, her mother Myrtie McGarty- Moten, her brothers John Oliver and Jodie Collins and her niece Agnes Harris (Niecy).

Bettye leaves to cherish her memory Her one and only son: Craig Allen Wylie (Angie), her grandchildren: Craig Griffin, Mercedes Wylie, Stephanie Wylie, Jasmine Wylie, Joe McCoy III, Courtney McCoy, her sisters Ruby Collins of Haskell, Tx. Darlene Collins of Haskell, Tx. Linda Walker (Tony) of Dallas, Tx. And Brother Warner Collins Jr. of Dallas, Tx.

God Daughter Lisa White (Kevin), God Sons Wendell Ruffin and Tyrone Irven, her Smithville Community Family, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
