Sister Bobbry McDonald was born October 30, 1931 to Professor S.F Thorne and Eunice Sampson Brieger Thorne. She was the youngest of her siblings.
Sister Bobbry accepted Christ at an early young age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and remained faithful until her demise. She gave her time and substance to her church by serving in the choir, missionary worker, and church secretary. She was a faithful servant and encourager to her brother, Rev. Lawrence Thorne, who was pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years, and later her nephew, Rev. Alfred Revetta Sr.
She attended elementary school at Cedar Creek, Texas and then entered Emile High School in Bastrop, Texas where she graduated. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Samuel Huston College in Austin, TX and then her Master’s degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, TX.
Bobbry married the love of her life, Kermit McDonald, August 18, 1954. To this union, no children were born, however, they served as caregivers to old and young for many years. Over the years they have generously given their time and material blessings to help others. She never spoke any unkind words about anyone.
Her teaching career began at Bastrop ISD. After her retirement, Bobby became a caregiver to her mother for over 30 years.
Bobbry is preceded in death by her mother and father, Samuel Franklin Thorne and Eunice Sampson Brieger Thorne, her faithful husband, Kermit McDonald, and her siblings, Eva, Bercha, Sebastian, Alma, Mizell, James, Albert, Irene, Benjamin, and Lawrence.
She is survived by her sister, Hazel Harris (Earl) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
