On Saturday, July 2, 2022 Mrs. Bonnie Faye (Cathey) Montgomery was called by God to her heavenly home. Mrs. Montgomery was born March 12, 1954 in Bastrop, Texas to Minnie Lee Cathey and Herman Lee Brown. She was the third of six children.
Mrs. Montgomery joined Lone Star Baptist Church at an early age and on her return from Ansbach, Germany in 1984 she became a member of the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church and remain there until her illness under the leadership of Pastor Wesley Reliford.
Mrs. Montgomery never met a stranger, she talked to everyone and anyone everywhere she went. She cared about the welfare of the Shiloh Community where she resided for many years. She pesture Bastrop County Commissioners to get a number of things for the community. She worked in healthcare and with the Bastrop ISD for a great part of her life.
She loved working in her yard and had a tremendously gifted green thumb for flowers and growing just about anything. She loved fishing, thrifty shopping, and her family most of all.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 35 years Jerry Montgomery, two children Monica Jones and Norman Jones all of Bastrop, Tx and three stepsons, Jerry Montgomery, Jr., (Alexandria) of Waxhah, NC, Rev. Jerald Montgomery (Laura) of Rosenburg, Tx, Howard Montgomery of Columbia, SC., and one stepdaughter, Jerrolyn Smalls (Terex) of Summerville, SC. Two brothers Johnnie and Glenn Cathey and one sister Lillie Thompson all of Bastrop, Texas. Twenty-three grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Preceding her in death were both parents, mother-in-law, elder brother & elder sister
