Obituary

Bryan Cummings Owen passed away on 6/25/2020.  He was born on 5/22/1939 to Ann and Fisk Owen in Canada.  He grew up in Canada and was active in sports through high school.  He was married and had two children Darren Owen and Craig Owen.  Bryan was predeceased by both his parents and his oldest son Darren.  He is survived by his sister Carol Owen, son Craig Owen, and 4 grandchildren.

Bryan and his family moved from Canada to Dayton, Ohio in 1967 to be close to family.  In 1975, the family moved to New Port Richey, Florida to live on the water and enjoy the sunshine.  In 1979, Bryan and his son Craig moved to Spring, Texas.

Bryan enjoyed many hobbies, but his most favorite were swimming, scuba diving, and deep-sea fishing.  His time on the water was a way to decompress and connect with nature.  Bryan was always interested in living in the country and having land.  He lived in the last years of his life in Smithville, Texas.  It is clear he enjoyed the small town feel of great people and country life living.

The family is thankful for those who helped Bryan over the years.  We are especially thankful of Janine Feminella of Smithville, Texas who was visiting Bryan on a regular basis to help him with trips to the grocery store, bringing meals to him, or just having a good laugh and listening to one of his many stories of life.  Thank you Smithville for your love of people and caring for those who live there or are just passing through.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Meals on Wheels or Smithville Senior Nutrition Program, attn: Jenny Busche, 106 Royston, Smithville, TX 78957.
