Donna Veal Brown was born on August 16, 1963 in Bastrop County, Texas to loving parents Sam Veal, Jr. and Doris Mae Veal. The ninth child of 14 children, Donna grew up in the close-knit community of Hills Prairie. She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and was baptized by the late John Glasco, former pastor of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Later in 1981, Donna graduated from Bastrop High School worked in various positions throughout her adult life. On August 15, 2003, Donna united in marriage to Anthony Brown, also of Bastrop, Texas. Donna’s strong sense of family made her a model helpmate and homemaker.
Donna excelled in her roles as a loving and faithful wife, stepmother, Godmother, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, friend, neighbor and most especially a Christian called to use her talents in service to the Lord. All who knew Donna can attest that she was an extraordinary decorator with a God-given talent for making the simplest things beautiful.
While Donna’s passing will be mourned by a great many, those who knew her best and are left to celebrate her life include loving husband Anthony Brown, step-children Gerard Brown, Keisha Brown and Tedric Brown, sisters Theresa Veal and Lovie Brown (Lawrence) of Bastrop, TX and Lois Williams of Austin, TX, brothers Alvin Veal (Frances) of Bastrop, TX, Bruce Veal (Tami) of Austin, TX, Ricky Veal (Shelon) of San Marcos, TX, Terry Veal of Bastrop, TX, aunts Joyce Hopes and Onella Williams and uncle Felix Veal of Bastrop, TX, mother-in-law Barbara Ross, god-son Bobby D. Mitchell, sisters-in-law Marlene Mitchell and Theresa DeShay (Chester) of Cedar Creek, TX, brothers-in-law Daniel Brown (LaTasha) and Cory Brown (Renee) of Bastrop, TX and Donald Brown ( Denise) of Dallas, TX, special friend Lisa Coutee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Loved ones preceding Donna in death include parents Sam and Doris Veal, brothers Willie, Sammie Lee, Vernon, Edward, Johnney and Jerome Veal, grandparents Sam Veal, Sr., Elizabeth Veal, Willie Williams and Lovie Williams.
