Georgia Nicholson Obituary

Georgia D. Nicholson, was born in Bastrop County on July 25, 1937 to the late Hallie B. Williams and Wash Williams, Sr. She was affectionately known by many names to include: Mama, Madea, GG, Grandma, Auntie, Georgia, Georgia Dean, Dean, Georjay, Sweet “G” and many more.  Georgia departed this life on Monday, April 25, 2022, with a host of family and friends by her side.

Georgia was raised and attended school in Bastrop County.  At an early age she was introduced to Christ and was a member at Macedonia Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas.

She married Norman Nicholson in 1953 and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to start her family.

After returning to Bastrop, TX. She worked as a family caregiver for about 30 years.

Georgia Dean was known and loved by many.  Her circle included everyone; young and old, rich and poor.  She was a very compassionate, caring, and considerate individual.  She was easy to talk to; and she cared about your feelings.  Her big smile was contagious and she showed her love through the way she interacted with people.  She showered her family and everyone she knew with a kind, energetic and expressive greeting; one that would brighten your day even in the worst of times.  She shared tight hugs, warm kisses, and gave wonderfully sincere compliments to encourage and lift up the people that surrounded her.  Georgia loved people; she loved conversing and connecting with others. She loved what she called “Good Fun” and she loved to laugh.  But most of all, Georgia D. Nicholson loved life; and she lived hers to the fullest.

Georgia is predeceased by her father, Wash Williams, Sr.; mother, Hallie B. Williams; Son, Reginald Nicholson; Grandson, Leon Deshawn Nicholson; 3 brothers, Wash Williams, Jr., James Williams, and Louis Williams; 6 sisters: Inez Reed, Alma Lee Alexander, Naomi Hornsby, Clotea Murry, Eliza Mae Franklin, and Dora Lee Taylor.

Left to cherish her memories are: Daughter, Marilyn Atkinson of North Little Rock, AR.; son, Breant Nicholson of Bastrop, TX.; daughter, Carolyn Nicholson-Warren (Brandon) of Bastrop, TX.; son Vaughan Nicholson (Margie) of Austin, TX.; and son, Vincent Nicholson of Bastrop, TX.; sister, Mamie R. Leonard of Bastrop, TX; brother, Hilbert Williams of Bastrop, TX and Hubert Williams of Bastrop, TX; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends, as well as her surrogate children: Tammy Jackson, Clarence Bunton, C. B., Mickey Summers (KK), Terry Summers; and her VFW Family.
