Ina L. Smith
January 27, 1936 - August 26, 2019
Ina L. Smith was the oldest daughter of Clanford“Daddy Stump” Robinson and Zenobia “Mother Dear” Anderson born on January 27, 1936 in Bastrop, Texas. She was nurtured at Paul Quinn African Methodist Episcopal Church and attended Emile High School where she was Valedictorian of the Class of 1954. After graduating from Emile she attended Prairie View A & M University where she majored in Sociology. Upon graduation from Prairie View she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she was the state of Missouri Director of Social Services for 35 years in Kansas City.
She was united in marriage to Frank Smith Jr. in 1964, who preceded her in death. She was the proud mother of three children: Michael K. McDonald, David D. Smith (Mikella), and Laura E. Abron. She continued her Christian fellowship in Kansas City at the St. Augustine Episcopal Church and continued at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Her hobbies included reading, gardening and antiquing. She was an avid bridge player and actively involved in the Jack and Jill organization and the Episcopal Church Women (ECW).
Preceding her in death are her parents and sister Zenobia V. Tyler. Her memories are cherished by her children and granddaughter, Abria Symone Abron and numerous family and friends.
Memorial services are scheduled on September 14 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 11 E. 40th St, Kansas City, MO. with a reception immediately following the services.
