Larry Eugene Lawhon
 
Larry was welcomed into Paradise by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 28, 2022. Born in Elgin, TX to Amon Lewis Lawhon and Aurelia (Brummet) Lawhon, both deceased, he grew up in Austin. He attended McCallum High School. He loved racing, starting with pigeons as a teenager and then cars at Longhorn Speedway when he was older. He was mentored by Grady Alexander in pigeon racing and also in the masonry trade. He was a masonry contractor for 45 years, working all over central Texas and beyond. He enjoyed working on the race car when his son David became old enough to drive.
He was also preceded in death by his sister LaVerne Lawhon and brothers Sidney and Frank.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Jo-Ellen Nalder Lawhon, son David and his children Christopher, Brandon, Whittney, Daniel and James, son Daniel, wife Victoria (Galaviz) and daughter Alexandria. He also had 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints on Tahitian Dr. in Bastrop, TX. Friday, Sept. 9,2022, Viewing 10:am, service 11:am, interment to follow at Youngs Prairie Cemetery in Elgin.
