Robert Lee Marcum Jr., affectionately known as Bob or Bobby, was born on November 23, 1941 to Robert and Aliene Marcum in Columbia, South Carolina. He left this earth on January 28, 2021 and joined his wife in heaven. He married the love of his life Portia Elaine Dennis on his 20th birthday November 23, 1961. They had two children Lee and Denise.
He lived in South Carolina for 42 years before moving his family to Texas in 1983. Bob worked his entire life in the construction industry and retired in 2003. After his retirement, he moved to Smithville, Texas in 2004 to be near his family. Bob was a hard worker who cared for his family well. He was a feisty fighter having survived both polio and cancer.
He loved camping with his family, fishing, watching movies, and picking on his guitar. His grandchildren and great grandchildren lit up his world-family first always!
In his later years, he was truly spoiled! He enjoyed his “hot” coffee, anything sweet (“because he didn’t eat sweets”), and pretty much all foods but especially his chili cheese dogs.
Bob cherished his family and friends. He was loved deeply and will be missed greatly. Bob is survived by: Son, Robert Lee Marcum III, wife Laura Daughter, Charity Denise Marcum, Grandchildren, Amanda P. Nguyen, husband Frank John Andrew Marcum Shelby E. Marcum Great grand children, Jason, Ben, Chloe, Zak, Aiden, and Amitiel. Proceeded in death by his wife Portia Elaine.
Due to COVID, the family will have a private memorial service at a later time.
