Sue Hyder Obituary

Sue Ann Williams was born, September 4, 1940 to Roy and Willie Mae Williams, in Bastrop County. She was the third child of 4 children.

At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Lone Star Baptist Church.

Sue Ann attended Emile High School in Bastrop, and was in the graduating class of 1961.  After graduating high school, she met and married Warren Hyder and moved to Houston, TX, and to this union 3 daughters were born, Devie, Dannette, & Detrice.

While living in Houston, she had an at home daycare, where she kept many children. 

When she returned to Bastrop, she committed her working life to serving and helping others as a dedicated employee at the Bastrop Nursing Center for 30 Years, retiring as a Medication Aide.

Sue Ann was a faithful and dedicated member of Lone Star Baptist Church, who was always willing to assist in any area she could. One of her duties was to collect and report the contributions, from the women of the church for the Annual Women’s Day Program; and she performed this duty, until her health failed. Sue Ann, was faithful in distributing cards, to the families,which included bereaved, sick, shut-in and birthdays.

Sue Ann loved traveling and shopping.

Sue Ann will be remembered for her kindness and wisdom she shared with everyone she met.

Sue Ann was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 7:00 a.m., in her home.

Sue Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Willie Mae Williams, husband, Warren Hyder, brother, Donald Ray Williams Sr., great grandson, Ayeden Carter, sister-in-law, Sophie Williams, and brother-in-law, S. L. Barnett.

Cherishing her life and memories: Three Daughters: Devie Taylor, Bastrop, Tx., Dannette Longs (Steve), Houston, Tx,  Detrice (Tina) Hyder – DeShay (Mark), Cedar Creek, Tx.

Six Grandchildren: Shatoya Carter, Donta Gonzales, Steven J. Longs Jr., Mark DeShay Jr., Myles DeShay, Marquetta DeShay.

Five Great-Grandchildren: Olivia Gonzales, Bryson Gonzales, Cameron Gonzales, Alijah Carter, Ayevan Carter.

One Brother: Elroy Williams, Cedar Creek, Tx.

One Sister: Lillie Dale Barnett, Bastrop, Tx.

Two Sister-in-Laws: Angelina Williams Barnes, Bastrop, Tx., Barbara Williams, Austin, Tx.

Cousins (Like Sisters): Myrtle Alexander, Jo Ann Winn, Frankie McDonald, Mary Jo Franklin, Jo Ann Anderson, Rose Martin.

A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and the Lone Star Baptist Church Family.

Special Thanks: Henry Jackson, Myrtle Alexander, Linda Williams, Rose Martin, Paula Leonard, Afton Anderson, and others, for the special love and care provided to Sue Ann.
